Jonathan later became the VP of Product Management at The Washington Post. Also, Alan Eustace became senior Vice President of Knowledge at Google before leaving to become the CEO of Unity Technologies.

What Does a VP Do In Google?

There are a few different roles that VP jobs can fall into. Also, the most obvious one is a management role. The VP of a specific business unit or unit is in charge of all the employees that work in that area. They run the day-to-day operations and provide leadership to the team. 

The other type of role is more focused on management. This kind of VP is in charge of specific projects or initiatives within the company.

How to Get a VP Job in Google?

There are a few different ways that you can go about doing this. First, you can work your way up the ladder over time. Start as an engineer or manager and work your way up to eventually become VP. Another option is to apply directly to the specific job opening for VP. 

This will be more of a targeted job search. You will need to figure out which business unit you are interested in working with. Then, go through the application process for that specific unit. 

A final option is to apply for a VP role that is more focused on projects or initiatives. These VPS don’t have specific business units that they are in charge of. 

They are typically overseeing very large projects or initiatives for the company as a whole. This option is more of a specialist role, so you will have to be very qualified and very experienced if you want to get this kind of VP job.


VP jobs are a good way to get a better understanding of the business and a leadership role within Google. Also, it is a good place to start if you want to move up to become CEO or COO. 

It can be very stressful and busy at times. So if you don’t like managing people or don’t like working as part of a team, then Google isn’t the place for you. 

However, if you like working on big projects and leading teams, then Google is a great place for you to work.
